x x x x x kate ryan;Kate is described as being level-headed, and she is strong beneath her delicate features and sad eyes. She has secrets, the biggest being that she is the prisoner being brought back to the U.S. on the flight that crashed. Only Jack and Hurley are aware of this, however, and irony prevails when the other survivors insist she hold the gun with the last bullet in it in "Tabula Rasa". Kate has "trust issues", as she says, though she seems to be able to trust Jack more than anyone. Kate was being held by the marshall for robbing a bank, and possibly for murder, of "the man she loved". The identity of this man is not yet known; however, she robbed the bank with the help of accomplices including her boyfriend at the time, turning against them in the end when they tried the kill the bank manager. In the robbery, she acquired a small toy plane which came in a metal briefcase in the crash. The importance of the plane also has yet to be discovered. We know scattered facts about Kate - she is a trained tracker, through hiking expeditions with her father, who was in the military. She's Canadian, as is Evangeline Lilly. ![]() Kate has major trust issues, mostly enforced by her criminal past. She can't seem to get close to anyone, and lies to Jack, much to his dismay. Kate's inability to be real with someone hinders her relationship with Jack, though they are both learning to slowly trust each other. |
