PLACEBO
Placebo was formed in 1994 when Brian ran into Stefan Olsdal (a swede like me!) in London's South Kensington tube station.
They formed the band Ashtray Heart. They flew in an old friend of Stefan, Robert Schultzberg, from Sweden and he became the drummer. The band later changed their name to Placebo.
Brian found himself writing lyrics that were to prove unexpectedly popular and after five gigs, Placebo were signed. In 1996 they reached number 4 in the UK hit lists with 'Nancy Boy'.
They went on a tour that was filles with sex and drugs. But Robert didn't really like the life of a rock star. He didn't get along well with Brian either, so he was asked to leave.
With the recording of a the next album,
Without you I´m nothing they hocked on along with Steve Hewitt who had played the drums on Placebo's demos. The second album became deeper than the first one,
Placebo.
More touring. 'Pure Morning' and 'Every you, Every me' (on the soundtrack for the movie
Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe) became big hits. In 2000 their third album,
Black Market Music was released, it's a bit "rockier" than the rest.
Their fourth album
Sleeping with Ghosts was released in 2003.
