Episodes >>> Season 3 >>> 03.09 Trials
First aired: 25 November 2004
The team searches for a rich 72-year-old murder trial juror whose disappearance could cause a mistrial if he's not found in time.
When a juror disappears, the initial belief is that his disappearance is connected to the trial that is being covered, where a young man named Terrell Brooks has accused of murdering Janelle Billingsley. When the team investigates further, they learn that not only did Ducek change his will to leave his younger lover a fortune, but he has been rather mysterious about a painting from his youth in Czechoslovakia. The team soon begins to believe that Ducek is really a former Nazi soldier named Klaus Reinhardt.
Though the team initially suspects that the defendant may have orchestrated Peter Dusek's disappearance as a means of forcing a mistrial, they soon wonder if Peter disappeared on his own since he tried to recuse himself with a note from his cardiologist the day after the defendant threatened a witness in the courtroom. Upon learning that Peter is a multi-millionaire who was in the process of adding someone to his will, they begin to suspect the widower's resentful adult son while also considering that Peter could have been kidnapped by someone seeking a hefty ransom.
