Jack and Danny find their investigation into a missing man at his mother-in-law's request hampered by uncooperative authorities and his resistant wife.

Once in Mexico, Jack and Danny face resistance from a territorial federale as well as from Lucy (Kingston), who's upset that her mother called the FBI as the kidnappers threatened to kill her husband, James, if the authorities became involved. As the team tracks down local suspects, they begin to wonder if the kidnapping and ransom negotiations are being orchestrated from the U.S.
